About Griggs County Central Dollars for Scholars

ABOUT OUR CHAPTER

LOCATED IN COOPERSTOWN, NORTH DAKOTA

The mission of Griggs County Central Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to educational opportunities for Griggs County Central School students through scholarships and academic support.

We Began In 2004

Many local businesses, organizations, and individual donors fund scholarships utilizing Dollars for Scholars Pass-Through Scholarships. In addition, some families have established memorial scholarships in honor of loved ones. The donor funds the scholarships,, may set a criteria for the scholarship award, such as community service, but allow the local chapter to screen the applications and assign the appropriate award. Scholarship awards are set at a minimum of $500 each. On occasion, Pass-Through Donors have provided scholarships of $1,000 to recipients.

Applications are scored according to guidelines suggested by teh national organization. No financial information is requested, as financial need is not a pre-requisite for application, nor a criteria used in determining an award. Since the Chapter's inception in 2004, 93 Scholarships have been awarded totaling $50,450.

 

 

CURRENT FUNDRAISING EVENTS 

We currently have a wonderful cookbook, The 100 Years Of Cooking, Griggs County cookbook for sale that can be purchased at Citizens State Bank in Cooperstown.  This is an ongoing fundraiser for us and has provided us with many scholarships for our students.

Sponsor a Game is currently one of our largest fundraisers.  Area businesses sponsor a Griggs Titans Home game.  The game sponsor is listed in the program and announced multiple times throughout the game.

Parking Raffle we took a year off with this fundraiser due to the uncertainty with COVID-19.  Two Reserved Parking Spots are raffled off for the Football, Volleyball, Boys Basketball, and Girls Basketball Season.  We hope to get this going again for the 2021-2022 year.  Be on the look out for Raffle Tickets to the Prime Parking Spots!
